Volunteer Pop Saari

Pop Saari was recently asked why he was volunteering so much time and effort into our "Camp Courage" site and our fundraisers.

Here is his answer:

"There are a few reasons why I decided to volunteer my time to the 4 Aussie Heroes Foundation, and in no particular order, they are as follows:

For approx. 30 years of my working life, I was paid by the Australian Government, that is you, the taxpayer. Our lives are about giving and taking, and I decided to give some back.

As I was relatively fit of mind and body, I knew that I needed something to do when I quit work approx. 3 years ago. The Foundation offered me the opportunity to have some input in the early stages, albeit mostly tasks involving physical work but that suited me down to the ground. I am not a person with PR skills etc and would rather work in the background barely being noticed.

Gerry has said more than once, I don’t know how to thank you enough for doing the tasks that you carry out. I did reply once that when I hear a good news story that a person has had their life turned around after completing the course, that is enough thanks for me.

There are many ESO’s available to people, but rarely do they have an environment where it is away from the hustle and bustle of the big towns. That is the pictures of where the Foundation is setting up and I could not agree more after having spent a fair bit of time at the location, as well as living in a semi rural environment."

If anyone else out there is willing and able to give the odd half day or day of pretty solid "yakka," please contact Gerry through our contact us page or email info@4aussieheroes.com.au.
