On the 21st of December 2023, Paramedic Austen Todd swam 50 gruelling kilometres in the mighty Murray River at Echuca, Victoria in support of the 4 Aussie Heroes Foundation Limited. This epic swim consisted of ten 5-kilometre swims between two boat ramps. Austen was interviewed by Peter Gleeson from 4BC Radio for his Drive Time show (click to hear interview) during the swim. Austen undertook this challenge to give back as a token of his gratitude for the Triumph over Trauma Program, the help it provided to him and continues to provide with ongoing support for Austen and all its Participants.
Austen (pictured centre) was supported on the day, with family and mates joining him for part of the swim and always under the careful watch of a support person in a kayak. With the Murray River currents being unpredictable and the sheer magnitude of the swim, the support of all who were there on the day was something to behold. An amazing team effort.
Austen raised more than $5,000, a phenomenal effort with great support coming from around the country! The 4 Aussie Heroes Foundation extends its appreciation to all donors who supported Austen’s work!
The funds raised will be put towards a “special addition” to the Foundation’s “Camp Courage” purpose-built retreat facility which is currently under construction. Stay tuned for further information regarding this project.
We are deeply grateful to Austen for his support of the Triumph over Trauma Program and honoured to be part of his journey back to a happy and healthy life.
